May 17, 2010
This will be the final farewell update I will be sending home. Feel free to email me with any further questions you may have. I have also attached several permission slips that need to be signed and returned to me.
Date and Venue
The farewell ceremony will be held on Thursday, June 17 @ 7:00 p.m. in the Sheldon-Williams auditorium. Typically the ceremony lasts about one hour before the graduating students head off to Boston Pizza for their pizza party.

The grades have chosen royal blue and white for their ceremony colours. We have ordered a decorative balloon package from Balloons by Fred.
Student Dinner and Events
The class chose Boston Pizza for their after-grad dinner. I have a reservation for 21 students to eat at Boston Pizza South following the farewell ceremony. The cost of the dinner, which includes non-stop pop and all you can eat pizza, will be $12.00/student tax and tip included. Please send $12.00 to Mr. Van Dusen by May 28th. I will prepay for the dinner a few weeks early.
I am looking for 5 parent volunteers to drive students to and from Boston Pizza as well as supervise them during the meal. If you think you can help out, please leave a quick email message. firstname.lastname@example.org
The class has chosen to travel to Moose Jaw on Friday, June 18th. I have planned a fun scavenger hunt at the Western Development Museum, booked two tours at the tunnels, and made plans for lunch. We will cover the cost of the trip with the funds raised last year through chocolate sales.
Thank you to those of you who have submitted photos for the multimedia presentation. Our work experience student has designed a thoughtful and touching slideshow that will be shown during the farewell ceremony. Bring your tissue!

What to Wear?
This is a matter of personal choice, but students generally dress up slightly for the farewell evening. In the past, boys have avoided jeans and have worn slacks and shirt; girls have chosen to wear a skirt or a dress. Personally, I would not worry about purchasing new, expensive clothing just for the farewell ceremony; the program will last about an hour or so.
Students often assume that they are excused from regular classes on the day of the farewell. This is certainly not true. While I recognize that the graduates are sometimes busy with last-minute appointments or family activities leading up to the ceremony, I encourage all students to be in attendance on Thursday, June 17th. Additionally, students cannot be late on Friday, June 18th because the bus will be leaving for Moose Jaw a few minutes after 9:00 a.m.
See you on the 17th of June!
